The Japanese hornbeam is a unique bonsai with intriguing trunk details and vividly green foliage, a lively contrast of ruggedness and tenderness.
It is known for its strongly defined vascular lines that run through the tree’s smooth, creamy white bark, sometimes leaving weathered crevices in the aged trunk. The foliage of hornbeam is well loved for its delicate, pleated appearance and finely-toothed edges.
This bonsai has a clean set of nebari (surface roots) that beautifully balances its characteristic angular branching. It sits in a rustic blue oval pot, on top of a patch of soft, green moss. This is a slightly more uncommon bonsai species, and is seldom available locally.
