Bluebell bonsai naturally distributed from Hainan Island in China, the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia as well as the Philippines and Vietnam. The Vietnamese blue bell tree (Linh Shan 凌山) is a small, hardy tropical shrub that grows in savannas and sparse forests near riverbanks. This legume family member grows up to 1-2 meters in height.
During its blooming, which is an often-occurring phenomenon in Singapore's climate, it amazes you with beautiful, fragrant purple flowers, shaped like a purple bell. The flowers' scent naturally diffuses into your living space. As they age, the bark becomes more & more gnarly, which gives it a great look.
This particular bonsai is done in an "Ishisuki" Bonsai-in-Rock style, potted in a blue rectangle pot. With trails of moss creeping up the crevices between the rock and roots of the bonsai, this is a unique miniature piece that showcases a dramatic depiction of nature, a reference to trees growing resiliently on tall mountains.
